The Project
This was the second website I designed and developed for the team at Sussex Community Dermatology Service. Following the successful launch of their private dermatology service website, they sought a complete redesign of their NHS website.
The project presented several unique challenges, including the integration of a vast amount of content that had grown organically over the years. Restructuring the site while maintaining SEO integrity and existing links was a key priority. Additionally, I implemented dynamic, editable Google Maps to display their numerous clinic locations.
A major focus was improving usability for their extensive patient information index and patient support group listings. To enhance accessibility, I also developed advanced search functionality, ensuring visitors can easily find the information they need.
Michael has now designed two websites for us and both experiences have been fantastic. The designs have been clean and modern and made to our specifications. The Result
I provided the team with multiple design options to choose from. Once the final design was selected, I began developing a custom WordPress theme tailored to their needs. This included a streamlined admin area with clearly labeled sections for key components of the site: services, patient information, patient resources, and clinic locations.
The existing content was carefully integrated into the new theme, with SEO enhancements to improve search visibility. The new design was then implemented and rigorously tested for speed, performance, and accessibility before being deployed to their server.
As a result, NHS Sussex Community Dermatology Service now has a clean, modern website with an intuitive, easy-to-navigate structure. The improved backend CMS allows their team to efficiently manage and update a large volume of content, ensuring the site remains up to date and user-friendly for both staff and patients.
